Motorbikes through Vietnam

The main mode of transportation here in Vietnam is the motorbike. They are small, can carry a surprising amount of cargo, and parking is much easier for a motorbike than a car. Naturally during our time here we have had the opportunity to ride on a motorbike. The Spiritans own several motorbikes and each of the seminarians has a license to drive one. Our first ride on the bike was to a soccer park where I played a short match with the seminarians. I wasn't the worst player out there either! The second trip was to the orphanage.

Both rides on the motorbikes were pretty terrifying, but we had no issues at all. The Vietnamese people just avoid each other while driving. Someone coming at you in the wrong lane? Drive around them. Someone trying to make a right turn from the left lane? Just slow down and don't crash into them. Its an interesting culture. The traffic lines are mostly just a suggestion.

Enjoy the videos of us traveling by motorbike. Please note we are wearing helmets and are not driving the motorbikes ourselves!
